CRT Mentor Rod Bolton is President of iTech:
iTECH announced their winning of the Crystal Award, which is the highest award presented by the State for their overall incorporation of Lean Manufacturing over a 3 year period of time.
Each year awards are presented to companies in recognition for the most productive Kaizen events for any given year. Kaizen is a Japanese term for “Change for the better.” iTECH has won several of these awards in years past for significant improvements in specific areas of the company’s manufacturing. This most recent award is for prolonged improvements over multiple areas of the company.
Highlights of the improvements realized include lowering warranty cost by 70%, improving productivity per employee by 50%, while seeing increased first pass yields in board assembly and final assembly. Significant improvements in scrap and rework costs have also been realized. There have been improvements in on time delivery and overall quality issues are measured as under 300 parts per million (99.997%).
iTECH has been on a Lean journey for approximately 5 years. According toRod Bolton, iTECH’s President, “The significance of this award is it’s recognition of the company’s consistent journey, one step at a time, in the pursuit of continued change for the better.
