iTech Receives Crystal Award Under Leadership of Rod Bolton

October 6, 2010

Rod Bolton, CRT Mentor and President of iTECH, is pleased to announce that iTECH has received the Crystal Award from the State of California Employers Association for the most productive Kaizen event in 2009. Over 150 companies in California competed for the honor. Perhaps what makes this award most impressive is that this is the second straight year iTECH has received the award. No other company has received the award in back to back years in the 24 years of competition.

The award is based on reductions in floor space, product movement, reduction in Work in Process and overall performance improvement. On this Kaizen event, iTECH was able to reduce the travel distance of the product by 45%. It reduced operator travel distance by 61%. And the event reduced the actual floor space consumed by 56%. The overall event was to dissolve the existing customer service area and decimate the functions directly to the production floor. This was made possible by several years of improvements to first pass yields on board test and final test.

“To remain competitive in California a company must be as LEAN as possible,” said Rod Bolton, President of iTECH. “We want to remain a San Diego manufacturing operation so these steps are essential to our future success.”
