So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the stunt they pulled on behalf of their client, ConAgra Foods, backfired, as reported in the New York Times. True the same tactic has been used with great success when consumers are the subject, but most reporters would feel false or misleading pretenses that got them to cover a story in a much different light.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but in this case, it was something Ketchum should have figured out by asking themselves if they would have tried to lure traditional journalists the same way. I’m sure the answer would have been “Absolutely Not.” Top bloggers are no different.
